Business & Industry
Most of the business activity in the Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls area is centered around light industry, tourism and natural resources. With an abundance of power and energy, wide open spaces, and a consultative approach to new development, many companies find their operating costs lower after moving here.
Industrial/Business Parks
There are a variety of locations, whether you want curb appeal from the Interstate corridor, or closeness to rail and air, or a more private setting for corporate offices.
Trucking: Coeur d'Alene is served by several trucking firms and has access to numerous firms in Spokane. There are many variables to consider when determining truck transportation costs, including the cost of the truck, number of miles traveled, the unladen weight and carrying, and whether it is an interstate or private carrier.
Idaho is a deregulated trucking state; therefore, trucking companies may offer significant discounts, thus enabling shippers to secure very competitive intrastate shipping rates.
Containerized Shipping: Several container shipping services are readily available in the immediate area. ITEL Container International Corporation has established "neutral container pools" in Post Falls, Lewiston/Clarkston and Spokane.
Utility Rates Approximately two-thirds of Idaho's electricity is produced with low-cost hydropower facilities. Idaho offers low electric rates for residential, commercial and industrial users - lower than most major cities in the nation and about half that of many western cities.
Electric service in Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls is provided by Avista Utilities and Kootenai Electric Cooperative. Natural gas service is provided by Avista Utilities. For additional information visit the company websites below:
